When Jean Baptiste Gallopin took this position at court it was during the reign of Louis XIV. Louis would reign until 1715 thus Gallopin would have court experience under both Louis X1V as well as his great grandson Louis XV. It was during this time that major expansion was begun at Marly, the King's "get away" at Versailles. It was also the time of the War of Spanish Succession that almost bankrupted the monarcy. When the king died in 1715 the court was moved back to Paris under the regent. The court returned to Versailles in 1722 after a seven year absence. in 1697. |

Biography* | 1971 | His obituary read as follows: Funeral services for John Silas Gardner, 48, who died unexpectedly Sunday afternoon were held Wednesday afternoon at 4:00 at Nobles Funeral Home with Reverand Chefa Hathcock officiating. Burial was in the Coody Family Cemetery in Bleckley County. Mr. Gardner, a native of Junction City Arkansas, was retired from the U.S. Air Force after 20 years of service. At the time of his death, he was a civil service employee at Robins Air Force Base. He had lived in Cochran for the past four years. Survivors are his wife, Wynell Berryhill Gardner of Cochran; one daughter, Miss Linda Gardner of Cochran; one son, Russell L. Davidson of the U.S. Navy; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. H. Gardner of Bernice, La; two brothers, Raymond Gardner of Waskom, Texas; and T/Sgt. Joe Gardner of Big Springs, Tesas; two sisters, Mrs. Delmar Cullins of Summerfield,La. and Mrs. J.Y. Hanes of Doyline, La. Pallbearers were Morris Floyd, Harbot Mathis, James Berryhill, Raymond Young, Jake Crutchfield and Robert Skipper. Mathis-Nobles Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. |
