Birth*circa 1740 Ann (?) (?) was born circa 1740.
MARRIAGE*1756 She married Thomas Floyd, son of Thomas Floyd, in 1756; This is the year that Ann's name starts appearing with husband Thomas on Deeds.1
Death*1795 She died in 1795 at Franklin, NC.2
Probate*5 April 1795  On 5 April 1795 at NC Here is her will: In the name of God amen, I Ann Floyd being in perfect mind but weak in body... I will that my property be disposed of in the following manner. I give to my daughter Ann Jackson all my right of property in the estate of my late husband Thomas Floyd deceased now in the hands of the (court?) I give to my granddaughter Mahalah Jackson one featherbed and furniture. Lastly, I appoint my friend Hardy Hunt and Josiah Jackson, my son-in-law executors. Ann's 1795 will showed her to be the widow of Thomas and mother of Ann Floyd Jackson, wife of Josiah Jackson. The will includes the term "revoking all others," seeming to indicate she wrote other children out of the will. If so, one possible reason was that Ann Jackson took care of Ann Floyd in her failing years. This is interesting. "I appoint my friend Hardy Hunt and Josiah Jackson, my son-in-law, executors of this my last will and testament revoking all others.2
Note She Margot:WOW! This is big!( I believe he was referring to my finding them on the 1810 census) I made copies of the entries you sent, but they do not have the labels or titles on each column. Do you have those? Does it appear that Thomas Floyd was not married? Is the live-in black? I’m also interested in Alsey Jones. Appears to be Alsey, anyway. There was an Alston Jones who witnessed the 1795 will of Ann Floyd. Could be a transcription error. Also, you’ll notice in the next few paragraphs that Federick Jones was making appearances:
Shadrick Floyd was a witness, along with Federick Jones to the September 13, 1790, sale of land on Peachtree Creek by Henry Peed of Beaufort County to Thomas Brickell of Franklin County. Some of the land adjoined that of Robert Rogers and William Richardson and some adjoined that of Isaac Bass. This was apparently the same Robert Rogers who was named as being deceased in the 1803 will of Abraham Bass. This Isaac Bass apparently was the brother of Abraham Bass.
Shadrick Floyd and Federick Jones also were witnesses to a second deed on September 13, 1790, this one also by Henry Peed of Beaufort County to Thomas Brickell. The sale was for 25 acres in Nash County, and the price was 25 pounds.
I have theorized but have not committed to paper that Ann Floyd’s maiden name was Jones, based mainly on the rarity of the name Federick. If this were true, then Federick Floyd could have been named after Federick Jones. And that is a big if. I have also theorized that Ann Floyd was a Kinchen. What do you think?
See if you can find a Hardy Hunt in the 1810 census and perhaps a Thompson Curry.
WILL OF ANN FLOYD – 1795
(Punctuation added)
In the name of God amen, I Ann Floyd being in perfect mind but weak in body and calling to mind my mortality do make this my last will and testament.
Vizz 1st, I give my soul to God who created it and my body I commend to the earth to be decently buried.
2ndly, I will that my property be disposed of in the following manner.
1st Item. I give to my daughter Ann Jackson all my right of property in the estate of my late husband Thomas Floyd deceased now in the hands of the (court?
2nd Item. I give to my granddaughter Mahalah Jackson one featherbed and furniture.
Lastly, I appoint my friend Hardy Hunt & Josiah Jackson my son- in- law executors of this my last will and testament revoking all others in witness whereof I have hereunto set my name this 7th day of April 1795.

Married Name1756  As of 1756,her married name was Floyd.1
Note*2002  In 2002 Here is how I connected Ann and Thomas as the parents of Shadrick, Ann,Amos and Federick. Amos mentions his brother Fed in his will. Amos is shown on a tax record as being son of Thomas. Thomas is married to Ann as can be seen by her will. Ann and Thomas have a daughter named Ann. Circumstantial? yes, but about as close ase are likely to get.
A 1771 Bute County tax record showed Amos to be the son of Thomas, and it was in 1768 that Thomas and Ann Floyd apparently moved from Edgecombe to Bute County. I have no proof that the Thomas with son Amos was the husband of Ann. However, Ann's 1795 will showed her to be the widow of Thomas and mother of Ann Floyd Jackson, wife of Josiah Jackson. The will includes the term "revoking all others," seeming to indicate she wrote other children (Fed and Shadrack ?)out of the will. If so, one possible reason was that Ann Jackson took care of Ann Floyd in her failing years. This following statement is interesting. "I appoint my friend Hardy Hunt and Josiah Jackson, my son-in-law, executors of this my last will and testament revoking all others..."
