MARRIAGE11 November 1857 He married Sarah A. Higdon on 11 November 1857 at GA P. 781 states that Archibald Odum married Sarah Holland. Marriage performed by I.C. Donaldson. I suspect this is J.C. Donaldson (a neighbor).2
Probate*7 May 1860 His estate was probated on 7 May 1860 at Pulaski County, GA..
Note*  Lived next to father with wife Antionette.
(There is something wrong here as and Archibald H. Odum is shown in Court Minutes in 1821 as being dead. Page 106 reads: " Ordered that the Negros belonging to estate of Archibald H. Odum remain in same situation they have been since the death of said Arch. H. Odum. Monday March 5, 1821.)
This same record clealy show that there were two Archibald Odums. Another record shows on page 29 that in Jan 1816 Archibald Odum died intestate. Later letters of administration were granted to Archibald Odum on estate of Archibald H. Odum. I believe threrefore that there is a mistake here among the Archibalds.

Its possible he was killed in the line of duty.3

ARCHIBALD ODUM
ChartsAnnie Jane Holland
Birth*1758 Archibald Odom Sr. was born in 1758 at Scotland according to his tombstone; I am of the opinion that there are two Archibalds here. Father born about 1740 who fought in Revolutionary war and Son Archibald who also fought in Revolution and later settled and was buried in Pulaski County, Georgia. A letter in the pension file written in 1927 from Cordelia Reeder of Poteau, Oklahoma says that she believes that both Archibalds were in the Revolution.1
MARRIAGE*5 May 1778 He married Penelope Harris on 5 May 1778.1,2
MARRIAGE21 February 1826  On 21 February 1826 I am starting to suspect that Elizabeth, wife #2, got the idea to file for the pension near the end of Archibald's life. From the pension file we learn that Archibald had never been in need of the money therefore didn't file for it. By the time he did file he (or wife) was a bit cloudy on the memory and he may have even mixed up his service with stories he heard of his father's service.1,2

Relatives,

I finally found the record detailing his estate! I've been looking for it a long time. Celeste, I don't think it matters for DAR, but notice that JC Donelson (Susan's husband) was very much involved in receiving a significant portion of the estate when it was divided.

Dear Ms. Woodrough, Archibald Odom (1758-1845) is my gggg grandfather and a genealogist friend got a copy of his discharge paper from the regiment of Francis Marion in SC. It also says on it "deserted!" May be why pension was denied? He's buried outside of Hawkinsville, GA (Pulaski Co.) on HWY 230 with 3 other graves nearby in the middle of the woods.
